James “Craig” Naudain

Executive Vice President

Craig Naudain is currently an executive vice president and board member with IS4S. He is also a defense acquisition and business consultant with over 40 years of experience. He is serving on several corporate boards as a director/advisor.    

Craig retired from SAIC as a senior vice president and operations manager. During his tenure there, SAIC grew from 239 employees and $80M annually to more than 2,000 employees and over $625M, primarily supporting technical efforts of Redstone Arsenal in Alabama. He joined SAIC in 2003, opening the Huntsville site for the Future Combat Systems (FCS) program. His responsibilities included director and site manager for the FCS Huntsville operation as well as the coordination of five integrated product teams: unmanned ground vehicles, unmanned aerial systems, warfighting, training, and supplier management. In 2006, he moved to the operation management position. During his tenure, he received awards for the corporate Large Program Manager of the Year Award as well as the corporate Strategic Impact Award.  

Prior to joining SAIC, Craig retired from the U.S. Army as a colonel after 26 years of commissioned service. As a field artillery officer, he held a variety of command and staff positions and served as an analyst in Washington, D.C. He then served as the project manager for Precision Fires Rocket and Missile Systems, as well as the project manager for the Multiple Launch Rocket System. In these positions he was responsible for the development and fielding of the M270A1 MLRS, HIMARS launchers, and the GMLRS and ATACMS missile systems. He also chaired the five-nation international partnership, led the U.S. delegation, and provided oversight on 27 FMS programs. Before assuming those duties, he served as the product manager for the Bradley Fire Support Vehicle, Linebacker, and Striker weapon systems. Craig was the recipient of the Army’s Project Manager of the Year Award.  

Craig graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He also holds a Master of Science in operations research engineering and a Master of Arts in national security and strategic studies. Craig completed executive education at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, as well as the Darden School of Business with the University of Virginia. He is a graduate of the Army War College, the Naval War College (Command and Staff), and a graduate of the Defense Systems Management College for Program Management and Executive Program Management.  

Craig is active in several civic and industry organizations. He has served as a member of the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and was the commission chair in 2018. Craig serves as a committee volunteer for the Redstone Federal Credit Union board and is on the Asset Liability and Members Connections committees.  

He recently completed service on the board of directors for the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce and served as the vice-chair for government affairs and is a member of the executive committee.
