Auburn, AL

Yuma Proving Grounds (YPG) awarded IS4S a Phase II SBIR to develop and deliver a convoy driver assistance system. The GPS-based driver assistance system will clearly and concisely communicate accurate vehicle spacing information to drivers of a vehicle convoy. The GPS-based solution will perform in zero-visibility and in all-weather environments, as well as provide vehicle spacing information when line-of-sight is obscured by terrain or vehicle maneuvering. The system will be self-contained for easy deployment and operation on multiple vehicle systems, rugged to handle harsh testing environments, and simple to operate. This system will increase safety by alerting the drivers when they are closing in on other vehicles. The system will also improve test execution by enabling the drivers to precisely maintain vehicle-to-vehicle spacing, even in zero-visibility conditions.
