The US Army Electronic Proving Ground (EPG) awarded IS4S a Phase I SBIR to develop an indoor, over-the-air (OTA), GPS constellation simulator. The proposed system will provide a new testing capability to the DoD. Using a network of electronically scanned antenna arrays, GPS signals will be transmitted over the air inside an anechoic chamber. The system will realistically simulate satellite motion. The new capability will ease the demand on low-density testing assets (i.e. open-air test ranges), ultimately becoming a cost-savings for the government. The capability could also reduce security concerns for OTA transmission of sensitive waveforms, as some of these tests could be moved to an isolated environment.
